Meranta Backs East African Growers With Cold-Chain Program

A new initiative helps agricultural exporters cut post-harvest losses and reach premium markets through an unbroken temperature-controlled corridor.

Press Release · Nairobi · 20 April 2026

Meranta has launched a cold-chain program with regional agricultural growers, built to cut post-harvest losses and open the door to premium export markets. The initiative protects temperature integrity at every step, from the field through to final delivery.

The program ties together field-level cooling, refrigerated trucking, continuous temperature telemetry and customs pre-cleared at destination, so cargo never sits warming on a quay. Early participants have reported sharp drops in spoilage and noticeably better arrival quality.

By reinforcing the cold chain exactly where it tends to break, the program helps exporters clear the demanding quality bars of high-value markets that once turned their produce away. Meranta sees the work as a template for building resilience into perishable supply chains across the region.
