Meranta today opened a new gateway terminal serving Southeast Asia, adding capacity on one of the busiest trade corridors in the world. The facility brings two deep-water berths and roughly 1.2 million TEU of annual handling capacity to a region where demand has outrun available infrastructure for several years.
The terminal has been built around throughput and reliability. Automated stacking cranes, electrified yard equipment and direct integration with the national port community system give cargo pre-cleared customs lanes and real-time visibility from the moment a vessel berths through to onward dispatch.
The investment follows Meranta's stated strategy of adding capacity where trade is growing fastest. The company expects the gateway to cut average dwell times for regional importers and exporters by up to a third and to firm up the link between Asian manufacturing and the markets it supplies.
