Transshipment
Moving cargo to a second vessel at a hub port instead of sailing direct.
Transshipment is the transfer of cargo from one vessel to another at a hub port on the way to its destination, rather than a direct sailing. It opens up ports no single service reaches, at the cost of extra handling and a chance of delay at the hub. Meranta favours routings that keep transshipment to what's useful and schedules that hold across our hub network.
